After you sign up your team Leader
will send you an email letting you know when you will
start competing as a member of The Jolly Rogers Website
Competition, use this time to prepare for battle and
get familiar with your teams and The Jolly Roger pages.
We have made up a STEP BY STEP list for fast and easy
reference when ever you need it, and hopefully make
you a champion...
STEP 1.
Select a team voting banner
copy it to your hard drive and display it on your
site, this not only qualifys you to fight but you
will link it back to your voting booth url which you
can easily find on the team roster
page when you start fighting (just look for your site
name) so visitors to your site can vote for you.
Now you are ready for battle
STEP 2. It is very important
to vote for yourself once per IP account each
day, go to the voting booth you are in, select your
site and enter your email address then hit the vote
button, it's that quick and that easy.
Now you have qualified to move up to the next round
STEP 3. If you haven't
already, it is now time to get other people (fighters)
to vote for your site and in return you vote for their
site, we call this a Vote Exchange or VE, it is an
agreement that you must keep, to be a loyal supporter
as you would expect your new VE friend to be to you.
A good place to start looking is your team roster
then on to the other teams rosters on The Jolly Roger
Website Competition.
STEP 4. Now you are getting
vote exchanges hit the VE Boards
and leave you site details there, so other fighters
that are looking for a VE can find you and visit your
site to ask you for a VE, this is also a great place
to find other fighters looking for support for their
sites.
STEP 5. Another great way to find extra support
is the egroups vote exchanges, when
you sign up for one of these you can send an email
to the group of fighters asking for a vote exchange
with you site url so they can go and visit your site
and sign your guestbook, they will then reply with
there site url so you can visit them, also being part
of the group you will recieve emails from other fighters
looking for a VE straight into your inbox.
STEP 6. Now you are getting
supporters for your site you will need to send a vote
reminder to them with your weekly
voting booth url so they can get to vote for you quickly
and easily, some fighters manage there own list of
supporters ie: send them an vote reminder email straight
from their email account or replying to the reminders
from the fighters that they agreed to vote for, the
other way is to use a list group where you can send
the same email to a lot of fighters in one move, click
this link to find out more on list groups
STEP 7. Always keep to
what you agree with your new found supporters and
vote when you say you will vote, if you can't vote
every day for someone then let them know that straight
from the start, and never blind vote...

Question 1.
What does
VE mean ?
Answer.
VE is short for Vote Exchange, a simple agreement
between fighters to say that you will vote for them
and they will vote for you, this is usually on a daily
basis unless stated otherwise, but remember these
people will take time to vote for you and could help
win the battle (round) you are in, so please stand
by your agreement and take the time and vote for them
also, If you say to them you will vote for them, do
so honestly and vote daily.

Question 2.
How do
I find other fighter's to vote exchange with ?
Answer.
The best place to start looking for other VE friends
is the team you are in, this way you can get to know
who your team mates are, but also join in on the team
spirit (fun).
After you have made your new friends on your team
it is time to hit the other teams on The other website
competitions.

Question 3.
How do I go about
asking another fighter for a VE
Answer.
1. Look on the roster of each team, and pick a site,
then go and pay them a visit and view there pages.
2. If you like what you see go and sign their guestbook,
making sure to leave your site address and the team
you are in (in this case it will be The Jolly Rogers)
with a message saying that you liked there site and
would like to VE.
3. It is also a good idea to email the site owner
and let them know that you have taken the time to
visit there site and sign their guestbook also how
much you enjoyed it, be sure to invite them over to
your site to see if they would like to VE with you.

Question 4.
What is
Blind Voting ?
Answer.
Blind voting is bad!
This is when a unspirited fighter agrees to vote for
you without viewing your site and signing your guestbook,
if they haven't got time or just can't be bothered
then this will go for voting for your site aswell
and there is a good chance they are non voters, the
guestbook signing reassures a hit to your site and
we all like them *Big Grin* this is not only bad practice
but the chances are if they can't be bothered to view
your site, they more than likely don't vote....
The Jolly Rogers Website Competition can bring a great
amount of traffic to your site and this is one of
the reasons why we say NO TO BLIND VOTING.............
But don't think you have to VE with a site you don't
like, only vote for sites you do like *S*

Question 5.
What are
vote reminders ?
Answer.
A vote reminder is an email that is sent out daily
or weekly with a link to their current vote URL (rounds
address) this is a quick and easy way to get to the
voting booth in question, and also reminds your new
friends to vote for you.
Some fighters have a daily and a weekly reminder lists
that they send out and have places where you can sign
up for either one of them on their sites.
Don't sign up and not vote for them, You can manage
your own list of new found VE friends and send each
of them an email reminder (with the link to your voting
url) After you get some more supporters it is a good
idea to use a List group to make your own Daily and
Weekly reminder lists easier as you can send one email
to all of your supporters in one email, this will
save a lot of time and is simple to use. Try Yahoo
Groups and Topica
these are some of the popular ones people use to send
out their reminders from.

Question 6.
What is a VE
Board ?
Answer.
VE BOARDS are very much like a simple guestbook but
with one big difference, This is where fighters (new
and old) go to look for new VE friends and also add
there own details to the board in the hope that other
fighters will go to their site and have a look around
to see if they would like to VE with you, this not
only increases traffic to your site, but you get to
see a lot of other peoples wonderful creations.
i.e. Site name, Site Address, and a sort description
of your site, an email address is optional on most
boards this is because if another fighter would like
to VE with you they can find your email addy on your
site, and this also ensures a visit *S*

Question 7.
What are vote
exchange egroups ?
Answer.
These is a very effective way to find new VE friends,
it is done simply by Joining up with your email address,
now you are ready to start sending and recieving emails
from other fighters looking for VE friends, all emails
go to who ever is a member of that group and as they
are strictly for Vote Exchanges you will be hitting
the heart of the VE community, you will also have
fighters that are looking for support in there given
competition come straight into your inbox.
Again please DO NOT blind vote, when you get an email
of another fighter go to their site and take a look
around then sign their guestbook so they know you
have been there, then send them an email saying where
you got them from and if they would like to visit
your site and maybe start a VE.

Answer.
Spirit can be shown in lots of ways, one of the most
obvious is posting sea shanties (battle cries) for
your team, it not only shows others that you are a
fighter that likes to get involved but it also can
bring extra traffic and support !!
How about sending someone a friendship
card to wish them luck or to say thanks for being
there, everyone likes to recieve cards so this could
really make someones day.
Signing guestbooks is another way to show spirit and
it lifts others spirit too..
